Our Lady of the Angels' is a co-educational primary school on the north-side of Brisbane with a current enrolment of 523 from Prep to Year 7. Our school offers a contemporary approach to teaching and learning, a high standard of integrated technology, many extra curricula activities and the benefits of being a high quality inclusive Catholic school. Our Lady of the Angels' promotes a rounded education that encourages personal growth based on Christian values. We encourage students to develop a knowledge of other cultures, languages and environmental and social considerations. Students are encouraged to participate as fully as they can in the life of the school.
As our mission statement proclaims, our community seeks to empower and celebrate all as lifelong learners and leaders who are inspired by the lives of Nano Nagle and St Francis. As a Catholic school, we also strive to deepen an understanding of, and nurture a relationship with our God, through an extensive Religious Education program and community worship opportunities based on Catholic traditions. Our students are encouraged to shine with life; learn with love; and grow with God.

LOVE 2READ CAFE - JUST MAD NIGHT
Congratulations to Sue McIntosh (our Teacher-Librarian) who organised another amazing evening last Thursday in our library where our dads and their children could come together to read and participate in a variety of literary activities. The library was filled to capacity with a great deal of excitement and very happy dads and children. Keep checking the newsletter for the next major event coming to our library in Term 3.
OLA CROSS COUNTRY
Congratulations to Tony McCartney (our Sport and PE teacher) on organising another successful OLA Cross Country. It was wonderful to see all children participate in the races to the best of their ability. Congratulations to the winning house - Warraba. Thank you also to all the staff who helped Tony in the training of the students before school over the term.

YEAR 2 EXCURSION TO THE CABOOLTURE HISTORICAL VILLAGE
On Thursday, May 3rd, Year 2 went on an excursion to the Caboolture Historical Village. This term we are learning about the olden days and were able to see lots of displays of how they lived back in the early 1900's. We saw an olden day's classroom. The desks were made of wood and had lift up lids. At the blacksmith shop, we saw the man heat up metal, and when it was really hot, he bent the metal to make it into different tools. While we were on the steam train ride, we saw some bushrangers. They were hiding from the policeman. He asked us to help him find them! We found some precious gems when we visited the Gem Club. Washing took all day to do in the olden days. With no machines to help, they had to do all the work by hand. We had a wonderful day learning about how they lived in the 'Olden Days'.

FINS
Our first FINS meeting for Term 2 is on Tuesday, 29th May at 7.00pm in the library when Deb Bone, an Occupational Therapist, will present a talk on "The Alert Program – How Does Your Engine Run?" created by Occupational Therapists Mary Sue Williams and Sherry Shellenberger. During this workshop, participants will be introduced to an understanding of sensory processing. The Alert program utilizes evidence-based practice to help children and adults alike to regulate their states of alertness, attention, behaviour, movement and emotions. Come along to find out the five ways you can regulate your own engine and that of your child's. Once we are able to do this then our abilities to work, learn and live are greatly enhanced. For catering purposes, please RSVP to the office by Friday, 25th May.

Sausage Sizzles are back!
This is a fundraising initiative being run by the P&F and we would love your support. What can you do?
Firstly, BUY A SAUSAGE! Our next sausage sizzle will be held on TUESDAY 22ND MAY during first break. Order using a brown paper bag (the same process as ordering from the tuckshop), stating
your child's name, class and if sauce is required. One bag per order please. Cost is $2.50 and the correct money would be much appreciated!
Secondly, if you are able to help out any time from 8.30am to 11.00 am on the day, email clarenugent@optusnet.com.au. We would appreciate your help on the day!
